The Application Engineer Automation will be based out of SELs Boerne field office located at 116 Herff Road Suite 202, Boerne, Texas 78006. However, because SEL has numerous customers nationwide, some travel is required, as the incumbent will occasionally and on a shortterm basis be deployed to various customer sites. Candidates must therefore be willing to travel to various unanticipated locations throughout the United States on an ongoing basis.br br Candidates must possess, at minimum, a Bachelors degree or foreign equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Electric Power Systems Engineering or related as well as 60 months of fulltime, progressively responsible, professional, postBaccalaureate work experience as an Automation Application Engineer, Automation Engineer, Electrical Engineer, or related occupation. All candidates must also possess knowledge, as evidenced by passing a basic technical proficiency test, of at least three of the five following subject areas 1 industrial automation system practices, automation applications, and associated protocols; 2 electric power and control system practices, integration applications, and associated protocols; 3 SCADA system theory, design, and operation including common data types, HMI, and PLC; 4 theory, application, design, and use of communication protocols such as IEC61850, DNP, and Modbus; and 5 operation, use, and analysis of data collection devices and communication processors. Note All candidates for all engineering positions at the company must pass a basic technical proficiency test. Candidates must also be willing to comply with the companys DrugFree and TobaccoFree policies.
