Project Overview:
We are seeking experienced nurses who are compassionate and skilled in stroke rehabilitation to provide comprehensive support for our family member. This project entails a 6-month contract, with the potential for extension based on her ongoing rehabilitation needs and progress.
Responsibilities:
Implement physical and occupational therapy exercises as prescribed by her healthcare providers to improve mobility, strength, and coordination.
Provide speech therapy support to help the patient regain communication skills, including exercises and techniques to improve speech and language abilities.
Administer medications as prescribed, ensuring adherence to the treatment plan and monitoring for potential side effects.
Implement fall prevention strategies to ensure the patient’s safety, including home modifications, use of assistive devices, and close supervision during mobility tasks.
Collaborate closely with the patient’s medical team, including neurologists, physical therapists, occupational therapists, and speech-language pathologists, to coordinate care, optimize treatment strategies, and address emerging needs and challenges.
Requirements:
Certification as a registered nurse with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in stroke rehabilitation, neurology, or home healthcare.
Proficiency in implementing physical and occupational therapy exercises to support stroke recovery, including knowledge of techniques to improve mobility, strength, and coordination.
Strong understanding of speech therapy techniques and support, including exercises to improve speech and language abilities.
Ability to administer and manage medications for stroke recovery, ensuring adherence to the treatment plan and monitoring for potential side effects.
Excellent communication skills and a compassionate demeanor, fostering trust and rapport with the patient and her family, and collaborating effectively with interdisciplinary healthcare teams.
Patient Case:
Stroke Rehabilitation
Patient: 58-year-old female
Condition: The patient is recovering from a stroke, requiring comprehensive care to support her rehabilitation, manage medications, and prevent falls.
Care Plan:
Physical and Occupational Therapy: Implement physical and occupational therapy exercises as prescribed by her healthcare providers, focusing on improving mobility, strength, coordination, and daily functioning. Encourage the patient to participate in exercises and activities that enhance her recovery and support her independence.
