At a minimum, the qualified candidate will have a high school degree or equivalent; certification or licensure as a heavy duty mechanic by a U.S. State or Canadian Province governmental agency; and sixty 60 months work experience as a heavy duty mechanic, diesel mechanic, or a related position. Alternatively, an associates degree, vocational or technical school certification in heavy duty mechanics, diesel mechanics, or a related field will be accepted in lieu of certification or licensure as a heavy duty mechanic. Additionally, must have successfully completed a U.S. Federal or U.S. Statesponsored training program OR have a certificate from a U.S. State or Canadian Province that qualifies the candidate to perform commercial motor vehicle safety inspections. Must have skills in advanced fuel injection and diesel engine tuneups, vehicle air conditioning systems and charging and cranking systems as gained through specific training or coursework or at least twelve 12 months of relevant work experience.
