Employer will accept a Masters degree in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science or Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Engineering, Computer Science, Applied Sciences, Mathematics, Physics, or related field. Position requiresbr br 1. Design of complex spectroscopic, polarization maintaining optical systems utilizing physical optics techniques or virtually in Zemax or CodeV;br 2. Design risk analyses for the identification of risks associated with the implementation and performance vs. cost and maintenance, of optical systems;br 3. Creating and demonstrating risk mitigation strategies based on the outcomes of predictive test results;br 4. Developing mathematical models of existing or proposed optical designs and applying models predictively or to the realized optical assemblies after characterization tests to identify the origins of and quantify optical distortions and wavefront errors utilizing Zemax, Python or MATLAB;br 5. Assembly of diverse data sets consisting of optical system parameters and optical performance metrics to perform multivariate correlation analyses to determine performance limiting parameters utilizing JMP, MATLAB or Python;br 6. Identification of valid test conditions including sample sets spanning the range of optical sensitivities which determine performance success and failure; andbr 7. Generating characteristic sensitivity curves from data sets and from these identify or create additional diagnostic tests and performance specifications that predict performance under nominal and less than nominal conditions.br br International and domestic travel to various unanticipated sites required.
