Denver Public Schools includes over 28,000 Multi Language Learners MLL students whose first language is not English. Therefore, the ability to speak in Arabic and English is essential in order to adequately and efficiently support students of all backgrounds within in this role. DPS values its diverse student population and the unique contribution of every student. DPS has students who speak one or more of 180 languages. DPS is the largest school district in Colorado, with more than 91,000 students. 45 of these students are English Learners. Additionally, DPS must provide translation services for Limited English Proficient parents. As Arabic is the second highest spoken language outside of English in the district, DPS must provide translators to Limited English Proficient parents to communicate with such parents in a manner that provides them with meaningful access to information that is provided to other parents. Therefore, Denver Public Schools has a business necessity to hire an Educational Interpreter ArabicEnglish who is fluent in Arabic.
