PhD in Neuroscience, Biochemistry, or a closely related scientific field, or foreign degree equivalentbr 5 years of research experience in neuroanatomy, small rodent neurosurgery, histology, immunohistochemistry, neural tracing methods, epifluorescence and confocal microscopy, CRISPRCas9 genome editing, animal behavior assays, and behavioral manipulations using chemogenetics and optogenetics.br Experience must include five years of research experience in each of the followingbr Performing stereotactic small rodent surgeries for viral injections.br Using histology, immunohistochemistry, and confocal microscopy to evaluate neuronal tracer labelling in a rodent brain.br Combining projectionspecific ex vivo electrophysiology recordings with singlecell sequencing patchseq to evaluate multimodal changes associated with a disease state in an animal model of disease.br Using CRISPRCas9 genome editing to evaluate the role of candidate genes in an animal model of disease.br Establishing animal behavioral assays to measure disease associated behavioral phenotype and putative behavioral changes after genetic manipulations.br Using optogenetics and chemogenetics to evaluate specific neuronal circuit contributions to disease associated behavioral phenotypes.br Using ex vivo and in vivo electrophysiology to measure projectionspecific using retrograde tracers and optotagging neuronal activity in an animal model of disease.br Analyzing experimental data using Python or Matlab programming language.br br Experience may be gained concurrently. Research experience gained via research positions andor internships during Ph.D. degree studies is acceptable.
