Must also have any experience with or knowledge of i distinguishing different bacterial morphologies in isolation and on interspecies diversity plate, distinguishing prokaryotes from eukaryotes e.g., bacteria vs. yeast; Quality control metrics through assessment of purity and likelihood of contamination; Demonstrating excellent aseptic technique and spatial mapping ability; Conducting targeted microbial isolation through different growth conditions and media for microbes with particular desired traits from a wide array of hosts; Performing molecular extraction of active metabolites, enzymes, genetic material; Plantassociated Gram positive and Gram negative bacteria as well as fungi including, but not limited to Rhodotorula, Saccharomyces, Trichoderma, Bacillus, Paenibacillus, Pseudomonas, E. coli; ii running established protocols, running spectrophotometric and kinetic assays, utilizing stoichiometry and toxicology data to verify protocols and reagents efficacy and safety, making technical improvements of assay from published literature or inhouse protocol to suit a highthroughput platform and to reduce noise in the data, identifying inhouse biological positive controls to track assays performance over time, transforming generic ideas into actionable protocols, knowledge of microbial nutrient cycling i.e. carbon cycle, nitrogen cycle, macro and micronutrient cycling; iii performing costbenefit analysis for optimization of assay being resourceful to obtain the most accurate result with tools we have in house, with minimum labor and least health hazard and environmental impacts, using interdisciplinary theories andor hypotheses to add value to current protocols or identify efficient shortcuts in current protocols; iv calculating amount of cultures to be produced, coordinate with team members on weekly and monthly schedules, training new and existing team members; v building checkpoints in experiments, validating data or calculation obtained through alternate methods; managing lab inventory and supplies; and vi multilevel prioritizing and scheduling with regards to importance and value of data of an experiment within project and in relation to other projects as deadlines occasionally overlap, being proactive in experiments and experiment planning.
