We will also accept an MS degree and 4 years of stated experience. In this case, ISO has not, and would not, hire someone into this position without a BS and 6 years of experience or MS and 4 years of experience. This position requires an advanced, indepth, theoretical understanding of electrical engineering principles, particularly in the area of power systems, best gained through a university education. In particular, electrical engineering programs provide students with the tools, methods and practice necessary to work in the specialized field of power systems. In addition to learning engineering fundamentals, students often are required to participate in rigorous research projects and spend hours completing lab work. Through these programs, they learn how to creatively solve problems, design and implement experiments, and improve processes. In addition, this Senior Engineer plays a key role in maintaining the reliability and efficiency of the New England bulk electric power system that encompasses more than 14 million residents in 6 states. Because of the level of responsibility that this position entails, as well as the serious consequences of errors, ISO New England has determined that several years of experience in the bulk power industry is necessary.
