Must have advanced level coursework or project background in the following 1.Planning and executing multistep stereoselective synthesis on different scales. 2.Applying stateoftheart organic chemistry methodology to implement methods for the construction of complex structures. 3.Using modern purification methods for organic compounds including column chromatography, reverse phase or normal phase high performance liquid chromatography, preparative thin layer chromatography, vacuum distillation, and crystallization. 4.Using physicochemical methods for structural characterization of biologically relevant compounds including nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, mass spectrometry, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, Xray diffraction spectroscopy, and differential scanning calorimetry. 5.Performing multiparameter optimization for biologically relevant compounds through proposing and synthesizing new molecular entities with altered chemical structure. 6.Record of publications in peerreviewed journal in the field of organic synthesis with the impact factor above 5. 7.Chemistryrelated software such as SciFinder, Reaxys, Chemdraw, PyMol, and MestReNova. 8. Communicating objectives and results to present the rationale, key data, issues, and accomplishments department wide.
