The requirements of a Bachelors degree and 12 years of experience or a Masters degree and 10 years of experience bear a reasonable relationship to the occupation of Civil Engineer in the context of the engineering and design services industry and the senior, projectmanager level of this position within the companys hierarchy. These requirements are essential to perform the job in a reasonable manner. Because this position requires project management, strategic decisionmaking and is a more client facing role, it demands an advancedlevel of civil engineering and construction design expertise, the employer has determined can only be obtained through these experience and education combinations. Specifically, the nature of this position includes management of challenging single major projects requiring supervision of several staff client relationships; an in depth knowledge of technical standards of practice; and an ability to manage practice areas on behalf of the company. The position therefore requires someone with the advanced knowledge and professional expertise gained through hands on experience and a bachelors level courseworkprojectbased learning earned through a masters degree.
