In this case, the employer has not, and would not, hire someone into this position without a BS and 5 years of experience or an MS and 3 years of experience. This position requires an advanced, indepth, theoretical understanding of software development principles best gained through a university education. The employee must have the indepth, complex, and theoretical understanding of computer systems and application development, gained through a university degree, in order to provide the level of software design and development services required of this position. The Senior Software Engineer is responsible for designing, coding, testing, documenting, and supporting proprietary software, among numerous other responsibilities, which demand strong technical skills. In addition, this Senior Software Engineer plays a key role in the design and development of software used in the maritime shipping industry worldwide. Because of the level of responsibility that this position entails, as well as the serious consequences of errors, Veson have determined that a Bachelors and 5 years of experience or a Masters and 3 years of progressively responsible postdegree experience are the minimum qualifications necessary to perform this position.
