We are a compassionate and supportive family deeply committed to providing the highest quality care for our beloved family member who is courageously facing advanced cancer. Our primary focus is to ensure his comfort, dignity, and well-being as he navigates the challenges posed by metastatic cancer and its associated symptoms.
Project Overview:
We are seeking experienced nurses who are compassionate and skilled in palliative care to provide comprehensive support for our family member with advanced cancer. This project entails a 6-month contract, with the potential for extension based on his ongoing health needs and the management of his symptoms.
Responsibilities:
Provide compassionate and attentive care tailored to the unique needs of a patient with advanced cancer requiring palliative care.
Implement pain and symptom management interventions to alleviate physical discomfort, including medication administration, nonpharmacological interventions, and supportive therapies.
Offer emotional support and counseling to the patient and his family members, addressing fears, anxieties, and psychosocial concerns associated with living with advanced cancer.
Coordinate with palliative care services, including hospice providers, social workers, and spiritual care providers, to optimize symptom management, enhance quality of life, and provide holistic support to the patient and his family.
Provide assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and feeding, to support the patient’s comfort, independence, and dignity.
Collaborate closely with the patient’s medical team, including oncologists, palliative care physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals, to coordinate care, optimize treatment strategies, and address emerging needs and challenges.
Requirements:
Certification as a registered nurse with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in oncology, palliative care, or hospice care.
Proficiency in pain and symptom management techniques, including medication administration, nonpharmacological interventions (e.g., massage, relaxation techniques), and supportive therapies (e.g., physical therapy, occupational therapy), to alleviate physical discomfort and enhance quality of life for patients with advanced cancer.
Strong understanding of the psychosocial and emotional aspects of living with advanced cancer, including coping strategies, grief and loss, and end-of-life care preferences, to provide compassionate and holistic support to patients and their families.
Ability to provide comprehensive assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and feeding, to support the comfort, dignity, and independence of patients with advanced cancer.
Excellent communication skills and a compassionate demeanor, fostering trust and rapport with patients and their families, and collaborating effectively with interdisciplinary healthcare teams.
Patient Case:
Advanced Cancer
Patient: 60-year-old male
Condition: The patient is confronting advanced cancer with metastatic spread, requiring palliative care to alleviate symptoms, optimize quality of life, and provide holistic support during his end-of-life journey.
Care Plan:
Pain and Symptom Management: Implement pain and symptom management interventions to alleviate physical discomfort and distressing symptoms associated with advanced cancer, including medication administration, nonpharmacological interventions (e.g., massage, heat therapy), and supportive therapies (e.g., physical therapy, acupuncture).
Emotional Support: Offer compassionate emotional support and counseling to the patient and his family members, addressing fears, anxieties, and psychosocial concerns associated with living with advanced cancer, promoting acceptance, dignity, and peace of mind.
Coordination with Palliative Care Services: Coordinate with palliative care services, including hospice providers, social workers, and spiritual care providers, to optimize symptom management, enhance quality of life, and provide holistic support to the patient and his family throughout his end-of-life journey.
Assistance with ADLs: Provide comprehensive assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and feeding, to support the patient’s comfort, independence, and dignity, ensuring a nurturing and supportive environment during his final days.
Collaboration with Medical Team: Work closely with the patient’s interdisciplinary medical team, including oncologists, palliative care physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals, to coordinate care, optimize treatment strategies, and address emerging needs and challenges, ensuring comprehensive and compassionate care for the patient and his family.
Total Budget: $320,967.36
