Project Overview:
We are seeking an experienced nurse to join our caregiving team on a contractual basis, with a focus on providing specialized care for our 70-year-old father living with terminal prostate cancer and bone metastases. This role involves palliative care, pain management, and emotional support for him and his family caregivers.

Responsibilities:

Palliative Care: Provide compassionate palliative care to enhance the comfort and quality of life for our father living with terminal prostate cancer and bone metastases. Focus on addressing his physical, emotional, and spiritual needs, and promoting dignity and respect throughout the end-of-life journey.
Pain Management: Implement comprehensive pain management strategies to alleviate our father’s pain and discomfort associated with terminal prostate cancer and bone metastases. Collaborate with healthcare providers to assess pain levels, administer appropriate medications, and utilize non-pharmacological interventions to optimize pain control and minimize side effects.
Emotional Support: Offer emotional support and counseling to our father and our family caregivers to help them cope with the challenges of terminal illness and end-of-life care. Provide a compassionate presence, active listening, and guidance on coping mechanisms, grief processing, and end-of-life decision-making, fostering a supportive and comforting environment for all involved.
Symptom Management: Assist with the management of symptoms such as anxiety, nausea, and fatigue that may arise as a result of our father’s terminal illness. Implement symptom assessment tools, administer medications as needed, and provide supportive care to alleviate distressing symptoms and enhance his overall well-being.
Collaboration: Collaborate closely with healthcare providers, including physicians, hospice professionals, and social workers, to ensure coordinated and holistic care for our father. Communicate regularly with the interdisciplinary team to provide updates on his condition, address concerns, and adjust care plans as needed, ensuring he receives the best possible care and support tailored to his individual needs and preferences.
Family Caregiver Support: Offer education, training, and emotional support to family caregivers to help them navigate the challenges of caring for a loved one with a terminal illness. Provide guidance on self-care practices, respite care options, and community resources available to support them in their caregiving role, promoting their overall health and well-being.
Requirements:

Certification as a registered nurse with experience in palliative care, oncology nursing, or end-of-life care.
Proficiency in providing palliative care, pain management, and emotional support for individuals with terminal illnesses, including knowledge of symptom management, medication administration, and psychosocial interventions.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to provide compassionate support to individuals and families facing end-of-life issues and bereavement.
Compassion, empathy, and a genuine commitment to improving the quality of life for individuals living with terminal illnesses and supporting their families during the end-of-life journey.
