Job Duties: Workers will use a long-handled hoe (4ft or more in length) for weeding/hoeing fields of celery. Harvesting and packing celery. Harvesting celery stalks with an 8-inch celery knife making a diagonal cut at the bottom of the stalk. Then it’s put on the machine table where it’s packed in bags then into a box that weighs between 40-to 50 lb pushed on the conveyor belt and then loaded into the trailer. Employees are to be experienced in both cutting and packing due to their everyday rotation. Loading boxes of product onto truck. Operate agricultural equipment such as tractor. Workers may be asked to drive in the fields, clean, and perform inspections on product. The employer attests that any thinning, hoeing, weeding, or hand-weeding work will be performed in compliance with 8 Cal. Code Regulations Section 3437, 3456(b-c).
