Job Duties: We have a cow-calf operation. In November, we separate the calves and feed them in a separate lot. We “bunk-break” the calves and feed them until January, when we bring them to market. We feed the cows all winter with a feed wagon, mixing up a feed ratio. When it is really cold, we put out more straw for them. The most important time for ranchers is the winter, to keep the animals safe and warm. It is just me, and during the summer, they are out to pasture, which requires a lot less tending.
