Job Duties: Assist with daily farm functions including but not limited to the following: Maintain heated watering system and operating snow removal equipment in order to operate feed wagons. Operate farm tractor with feed wagon to pick up feed/bales. Mixes feed and additives, fills feed troughs with feed and water for livestock and remove ice formed in water. Examines animals to detect diseases and injuries, diagnose problems, mechanical or animal and describe over the phone. Be able to pick out sick cattle and move them to barn for aid. Vaccinates animals by placing vaccine in drinking water or feed using syringes and hypodermic needles. Applies medications to cuts and bruises, spray livestock with insecticide. Able to check and care for cattle in all weather conditions. Confines livestock in stalls washes and clips them to prepare them for calving and assists veterinarian in delivery of offspring. Be able to tell when a calving cow needs help and to aid in birth with a calf jack. Assists in castrating livestock and branding. Cleans livestock stalls and sheds.
