Job Duties: Maintain valid state-issued driver’s license. Employer covers costs for Physical Exam, and FLCE driver registration, if required. Driving and related tasks (e.g., logging activities as per MSPA regulations) are compensated. Driving is part of the job role, and drivers will engage in harvesting activities when not driving. Responsible for vehicle maintenance tasks including fueling and cleaning. Compensation includes driving time, paperwork processing, and vehicle maintenance activities. Must check and maintain vehicle safety features and perform minor repairs or routine maintenance as necessary. Adherence to safety standards and legal requirements for vehicle operation and agricultural practices is mandatory. Employees must ensure the operational integrity of the vehicle by regularly checking essential components and conducting minor repairs or maintenance as needed. Crew Leader Duties: Report directly to the Foreman and manage seasonal workers during harvesting. Record crop-related information (pesticide use, yields, costs) and communicate crop progress to farm management. Oversee inventory and material orders, ensuring product quality and packing standards are met. Direct and monitor harvesting activities, assisting the foreman with pre-harvest preparations and audits. General Information: No candidate will be excluded based on the absence of a driver’s license or FLCE Certificate at the time of application or hiring. Employment will not be terminated due to failure to obtain these credentials. Compensation adheres to AEWR guidelines for all duties performed related to driving, administrative tasks, and fieldwork. The CalVans driving duty is not a different job and the drivers perform harvesting job duties when not driving. Observe and listen to machinery operations to detect equipment malfunctions. Operate or tend equipment used in agricultural production, such as tractors and irrigation equipment. Adjust, repair, and service farm machinery and notify supervisors when machinery malfunctions. Attach farm implements such as plows, discs, sprayers, or harvesters to tractors using bolts and hand tools. Workers will conduct post-harvest, and end-of-season activities, including repairing, cleaning, and preparing farm equipment for the following season. Flexibility and Adaptability: Willingness to work extended hours during peak seasons and adapt to changing weather conditions or urgent operational needs. Attention to Detail: Precision in record-keeping, data analysis for crop yields, and reporting on daily operations is required to ensure optimal farm performance. Willingness to Travel Between Worksites: The position may require travel between different farm locations.
